Local Population Studies Society

The Local Population Studies Society (LPSS) was created in 1972 to bring together individuals interested in all aspects of local population history. In 1968 a small group of academic and "non-professional" historians launched what was then called a magazine and newsletter containing articles and notes relating to local population studies and related topics. This magazine was called Local Population Studies. While these two organisations had close links, they were formally separate until 2005 when they merged. The full constitution can be found by the link on the left hand side. The journal Local Population Studies is now one of the many outputs of the Society, and is produced by a sub-committee of the LPSS known as the Editorial Board. The other activities of the Society include the bi-annual Newsletter, a series of day-conferences and a series of publications.

Membership of the LPSS is by annual subscription. Annual subscription rates, which include subscription to Local Population Studies and the LPSS Newsletter are currently:
